The calendar
An Assamese year, kept 2,000 km south
Four fixed points, plus the classes, the magazine and whatever else the year asks for.
September – October
Sree Sree Durga Puja
Purohits travel down from Assam to perform the bidhi-bidhan, cooks come with them to make the daily bhog, and the cultural evenings run on an Assamese programme. It is the one week of the year when the community is in one place, every day, for five days.
April
Rongali Bihu — the Spring Fest
ৰঙালী বিহু
Bohag Bihu marks the new year and the arrival of spring. AAB's Spring Fest opens with the state anthems of Karnataka and Assam and closes with a headline performance — in 2025, at Phoenix Marketcity Ground, that was Papon, in front of more than 5,000 people.
Annual
Bhogjora
Bhogjora is AAB's food festival, and the one event where the association's kitchen is the main stage rather than the support act.
Annual
Fun Habba
Fun Habba is deliberately unceremonial: no programme to sit through, just families out together for a day.
