Why a football carnival
Because his songs were never indoor songs
Zubeen Garg's songs are the ones an Assamese household already knows by heart, and they are sung as readily on a field as in a hall. So the association is marking his first death anniversary the way the music itself behaves — outdoors, in a crowd, with a ball in play.
It is a friendly tournament rather than a competition anyone needs to qualify for. There is no age limit, several categories run through the day, and the music does not stop between matches.

Spectators do not need to register — come on the day, bring the family. Teams and players do, and the registration form is on AAB's Facebook page, where it is kept current.
